## About

Each spring, eligible Harvard degree holders may vote in the annual elections for members of the University’s Board of Overseers and the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) Elected Directors.

After deliberating on a large pool of names submitted for consideration, a committee of alumni appointed by the Harvard Alumni Association generates a slate of candidates who appear on the spring ballot. The HAA nominating committee ordinarily presents eight candidates for five vacancies on the Board of Overseers and nine candidates for six vacancies for the Elected Directors. A prospective candidate for Overseer may also qualify for the ballot by petition. For a prospective petition candidate to qualify, a requisite number of eligible voters must submit signed forms in support of the prospective candidate’s appearance on the ballot.

Information on the 2026 election results can be found [here](https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2026/05/alumni-elect-new-overseers-and-haa-directors/).

## Community Expectations

The Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) is committed to building an inclusive environment that fosters alumni engagement with curiosity, humility, and respect. It welcomes a wide range of perspectives and thoughtful debate among Harvard alumni and requests that those who engage uphold these values.

During elections, alumni are asked to treat one another with respect as fellow members of the Harvard community and to avoid behavior that demeans or targets individuals or groups. Civil discourse and open dialogue are hallmarks of a vibrant community; personal attacks, harassment, and hostile conduct are inconsistent with these principles.
