An entrepreneur devoted to impact at scale, Arturo Elizondo has made it his life’s mission to improve the global food system.

Elizondo is co-founder and CEO of the innovative food technology company The EVERY Company. EVERY seeks, Elizondo says, “to democratize access to sustainable, animal-free proteins with the aim of healing our planet, improving human health, and alleviating animal suffering.”

Named the 2019 Person of the Year by the National Hispanic Institute, Elizondo has also been recognized among “America’s 50 Greatest Disruptors” by Newsweek, “Ten Innovators to Watch” by Smithsonian Magazine, “10 Latinos Who Inspire the United States” by BBC World News, “30 Under 30” by Forbes, and “40 Under 40” by the San Francisco Business Times.

At Harvard, Elizondo was active with the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, tutored immigrant Harvard employees preparing for citizenship tests, and helped create HLSA, the first Harvard-wide Latino organization. He went on to serve under Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor before pivoting to food and biotechnology. Elizondo grew up on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border and was awarded the key to the city of Laredo, Texas, his hometown’s highest honor.

“Harvard opened my eyes to a world I never thought possible and made me realize I had to be the change I wanted to see. I am committed to doing all I can to amplify Harvard’s role in educating new generations of scholars, scientists, and industry leaders who are relentless in their pursuit to solve the planet’s most urgent problems.”
