An expert in language and literacy instruction, Madeleine Mejia has devoted her career to preparing K-12 educators to improve student outcomes.  

Mejia is an assistant professor at the College of Education at California State University Fullerton, focusing on research in the effective implementation of critical literacy and racial equity pedagogy. Previously, she was director of professional development at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education.  

Honored by the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) with the Outstanding Volunteer Leadership Award, she has organized engaging social and educational programs for the Harvard Club of Southern California as vice president of programs and co-founding chair of the Club’s Anti-Racism Committee. She is a member of the Harvard Latino Alumni Alliance and former director for HAA Clubs and Shared Interest Groups. She also serves on the faculty council for the Center for the Advancement of Reading and Writing, contributing to the preparation of skilled teachers and literacy specialists in California.   

She received the Excellence in Education Leadership Award from the Harvard Latino Alumni Alliance, the Titans of Service Award from Cal State Fullerton, and the Excellence in Service Award from USC Phi Delta Kappa.
