Mead

(Harvard Overseer 2022-2024)

Scott Mead is a widely exhibited and published photographer with significant international experience and extensive board and finance expertise.

Mead has primarily lived and worked in Europe and Asia since graduation. An artist and history and literature major before becoming a partner and managing director of Goldman Sachs, he returned full-time to the arts and board service nearly 20 years ago. He founded and leads Bramley Studio, a London creative hub that nurtures artists from diverse backgrounds.

A broadly engaged Overseer, he is a member of visiting committees for chemistry, design, history, visual studies, and the Art Museums.

“Being an Overseer these past two years has given me invaluable insight into the challenges facing Harvard. At my first Overseers meeting, I successfully advocated to preserve alumni emails to facilitate and broaden global communication. Now we are facing challenges regarding the very soul and mission of Harvard, and I am committed to making it once again the standard for academic freedom and inclusive, broad-based excellence. I believe my deep and long-standing Harvard and board experience will help bring the chance for real and necessary change.”

A two-sport varsity athlete at Harvard, he is a former Harvard Alumni Association elected director and serves on Harvard’s Global Advisory Council and dean’s councils for the Law School and Graduate School of Design. A Royal Academy of Arts and Tate Foundation trustee, he has been closely involved with MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Women’s Tennis Association, where he advocated for equal prize money.
