Passionate about engaging audiences with compelling content, Whitney S. F. Baxter leads the team responsible for strategy, business operations, and business development for MTV Entertainment Group at ViacomCBS, which consists of global brands including MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, and the Smithsonian Channel.

Baxter is committed to creating educational and professional opportunities for underrepresented groups through mentorship and service. He sits on the advisory board of FC Harlem, which promotes educational and social development in communities of color; he served as a mentor coach for first-generation college students through the America Needs You program; and he has volunteered for PASSNYC, which helps students in underserved school districts prepare for NYC’s specialized high school entrance exam.

“Helping point someone to an opportunity that they then seize is a joy.”

Baxter has been a volunteer for the Harvard College Fund and a member of the Harvard Black Alumni Society since 2007, and active with the Harvard Alumni Association board since 2010. As co-chair of the HAA’s Strengthening Foundations Committee, he partnered with Harvard Clubs and Shared Interest Groups to increase participation in the Spring Back to Harvard event series, which connected alumni through family-friendly activities across the globe.

“This experience gives me tremendous perspective on how to effectively work within the Harvard alumni community to achieve a common goal. Driving greater engagement from the more than 350,000 alumni has the potential to unlock positive impact around the world. Having an opportunity to play a small part in advancing that goal is exciting.”
